I am a 24 years old Saudi-nation international student. I have been working hard to get admission to USC all my life. One should wonder why I am so keenly focused on the USC; well, let me explain. When I was in middle school, my older sister set the academic achievement bar very high in my family---she got accepted in the United Kingdom’s one of the top universities, Brunel University London and subsequently she graduated with her doctoral degree in dentistry. As such this was not enough, my older brother was then got accepted into USC and he too successfully accomplished his graduate degree in occupational therapy. So, I had no choice but to keep up with my siblings, besides I have visited my older brother on USC campus few times, and I came to like the school. My brother also recommended that USC would be a great school for me as he was totally satisfied with the quality of the classes and the faculty at USC.

Therefore, right around my final years in high school in Saudi Arabia, I set the goal to get admission in the USC. As you can see that I came from the family that has high priorities toward education; my father is well educated and he is a successful entrepreneur. My mother has been an administrative of a local secondary school in Saudi Arabia. Both of my parents instill value of education in us, and they gave all of us their full support. For example, due to our cultural traditions, few of our extended family members objected to the idea of my sister moving to the United Kingdom for her higher education, but I remember, that both of my parents supported my sister, and today she is a very successful professional in her field and serving the community. My family always supported my personal educational goals and provided necessary guidance. I worked hard as well; for example, knowing that I would be pursuing higher education in the USA. I meticulously plan to obtain governmental educational scholarship; it requires that the students keep certain levels of high grade point average during the college which I was able to maintain throughout my academic years in the Saudi Arabia.

In order to gain proficiency in English language, and to get myself familiarized with American schools, I have moved in USA and have successfully completed 51 units in general education courses. In addition, I have also successfully completed five levels of USC Language Academy. With the successful completion of these courses, I now feel that I am finally ready to be part of the USC student body. I have chosen Industrial Engineering major and feel confident to that I will be a valuable addition to your institution, and I hope that you see that I have worked hard and plan well to get to this point in time in my career. I therefore, respectfully request for your favorable consideration.

Sincerely,

Fawaz AlFawaz.
