Researching online or in libraries is one option to know more about the hardships during the great depression. You can also talk to the photographer of the photo.
Option 3 is looking for an elderly person to hear her story of the times during the great depression and the activities that men used to engage mostly, during that time.
Narrative analysis
The picture is an example of a primary source and is used to further explain how the great depression was at the time. It gives a visual representation of the situation at the time. The picture itself speaks volumes than I can explain.

Unemployment was rampant.
The US economy at the time was having a recession.
Inflation was at an all-time high.
B. Why do you think this document was written?
This document was written to shed light on the great depression, how and why it occurred, who suffered the most and how people coped with it. It is like walking down memory lane.
C. List two things the document tells you about life in the United States at the time it was written.
Life in the US back then was had because of the economic recession. The US economy was on its knees at the time, a lot of people were unemployed and miserable.
