Module Overview

In this module we're going to be looking at a number of the ways that macro economists have devised to measure and chart the state of health of the national economy. There are a lot of possible measures that relate to different things and they are called economic indicators. We will focus on the three most commonly used macroeconomic indicators: GDP, inflation rate, and the unemployment rate. Changes in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures if the economy is expanding or contracting (recession), and changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures if prices are going up which is inflation or holding steady. This module also examines the three types of unemployment.
