Module 3B Laboratory : Digital Coding
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to explore various digital codes and their use.
Procedure
1. Write down your first name or last name, whichever has more letters.
2. Go to ASCII Table and look up the hexadecimal and binary codes associated with the letters of your name. You can also use Figure 82 on page 366.
3. Now determine an even parity bit for each of the codes.
4. Search the web for an integrated circuit that converts from binary into Gray code.
5. Start Commsim and open the diagram file Gray_Mapping.vsm in the Encode Decode folder.
6. Simulate the circuit. You should see results similar to the following:
