Classroom Skills Assignment
50 points
Write an essay on the classroom skills students should possess to be successful at a university. Your purpose is to discuss the importance of having and developing good classroom skills, such as reading, note-taking, studying, and test-taking. In your essay you must discuss the following (in the following order):
1. how to be an active reader (suggest three with explanations from your notes)
1. how to be an active note-taker (suggest three with explanations from your notes)
1. how to study effectively (suggest three with explanations from your notes)
1. how to be a successful exam taker (suggest three with explanations from your notes)
Do not use the Internet for your answers. Your answers should be based on the notes you took in class during the Classroom Strategies PowerPoint presentations.
Writing Requirements:
You must use information you gleaned from the Classroom Strategies presentations in class!
Use 12-point Times New Roman font with 1” margins (top and bottom and sides)—do not justify your right margin.
Double-space the entire essay (which means only double space between paragraphs, not triple space).
You must have at least two complete pages. Use page numbers on each page.
Write in paragraph form (indent the first line of each paragraph using Tab). Do not have one long paragraph. Theoretically, you should have seven paragraphs: an introductory paragraph, a paragraph for each of the above five discussion points, and a concluding paragraph.
Check your spelling, use good grammar, and avoid incomplete sentences and punctuation errors.
Include your name, the class (UC175), and the date in the upper left or upper right hand corner (12-point font/no bold print). Then double space (don’t click Enter twice) and type a title of your essay. Do not use the title Classroom Skills or some similar form (be creative). Do not use larger font for the title or underline it or put the title in italics. Then double space after the title (don’t click Enter twice) and start your introductory paragraph.
