Describe the circumstances surrounding the incident/injury

Deceased was fatally stabbed at approx. 2:00 PM during an argument. A Hispanic male suspect entered the Target store and yelled “Amy, Amy, where are you, b*tch” before apparently noticing witness #1 (Morgan) trying on necklaces at the jewelry counter. The deceased was behind the counter handing the necklaces to witness #1. At this time the suspect became engaged in a heated argument with the deceased. Witness #1 became involved in the argument and the supect pushed her to the ground at which time the deceased reached across the jewelry counter and punched the suspect in the jaw. By this time, Witness #2 (Henry) and Witness #3 had left their cashier stations to investigate the commotion and saw the suspect grab ahold of the deceased’s arm and then pull out a knife and stab him in the neck. The deceased was un- able to pull away because the suspect was gripping his arm. The deceased then fell to the ground. The suspect did not see Witness #3 standing behind him. Witness #3 was able to use the element of surprise to grab the knife out of the hand of the suspect. The supect then fled the store and ran to the parking lot and got into an old, dark green or gray Honda Accord hatchback vehicle and sped away. Witness #3 ran out of the store behind the suspect and saw his license plate number, VWJ 429. Witness #2 called for rescue personnel in the meantime. Police already on the scene at the shopping center’s security office arrived at the crime scene at 2:11 pm and an ambulance arrived at 2:19 pm. The ambulance escorted the deceased to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police identified the driver of the getaway vehicle as Hector Vargas, 19. Police appehended Vargas at his mother’s home at 1124 Platt Place in Your City at 2:56 pm. The suspect said he fought with the deceased for talking to witness #1. The suspect said she was his girlfriend and said the deceased “got what he deserved.” Vargas was arrested and is charged with homicide.
