Collaboration 1: Groups and teams
By Day 4 of Week 2, post your brief thoughts (around 100 words) on what makes a good team. You can think of this broadly to include a range of teams or, more specifically, focus on project teams. Provide an example from your personal experience of working in a team. Explain why your example does or does not exemplify a good team.
Post 3–5 replies to your classmates’ posts in the Collaboration Forum by:
Comparing your own experience with teams and project teams with those of your classmates and the literature on teams
Asking probing questions to learn more about your classmates’ views
Extending the conversation into new but relevant areas
To access the Collaboration Forum and share your initial posting and follow-on, click on
Collaborations in the module menu, and click the "Weeks 2 and 3 Collaboration Forum"
link. Select Collaboration 1.
Collaboration 2: Groups and teams
By Day 4 of Week 3, using references to your readings and examples from your personal experience, post your brief thoughts (around 100 words) on one of the following topics:
How you would ensure your team is comprised of appropriate members who function as a team rather than a group and why
How you would motivate individuals on your team to achieve high performance and why
How you would address some of the challenges faced by project managers in managing transient, virtual or multicultural teams and why
Post 3–5 replies to your classmates’ posts who selected a different topic than the topic you chose in the Collaboration Forum by:
Comparing your own response with those of your classmates and the literature on teams
Asking probing questions to learn more about your classmates’ views
Extending the conversation into new but relevant areas
Ensure that you spread your Collaboration posts across at least three separate days of each week. This will help maximise the value of your collaboration with colleagues and serve to meet the learning objectives for each activity.
