Building Project Management

Module 4 A2

Project requirements

This project is a building project where the contractors are needed to design and supervise the building project. The contractors will ensure that the building project follows the exact design and also meets the building time given by the sponsor. The leader of the project is me and my work will be ensuring that all the building materials needed for the project are in place. My work will be to oversee the whole project as well as manage it. Before the building project kicks off, the building permits have to be issued. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for 3 weeks for the building permits. The framing and drywall contractors will also be involved in the building project though only half of their crew will participate in the project because the time does not allow all of them due to other awaiting jobs.

Project schedule

In the first three weeks of the project, I will be busy obtaining the building permits of the project. The project cannot commence without the building permits. After obtaining the building permits, I will prepare all the building materials in a period of one month. One month will be enough for me to get all the building materials ready. After that, there will be two more months and one week remaining before the expiry of the project time frame (Kymmell, 2008). One month will be used by the framing and drywall contractors to do their part of the project and the final month will involve project finalizing ands then present the finished project to the sponsor in the final week.

Project cost

The whole project will cost two million dollars where 1 million dollars will cater for workers salaries. Hiring a new contractor to assist in framing and drywall will cost the company $200,000. This will be a nit expensive but it will be necessary so as to help the company in effective construction. The project will involve a lot of materials which will cost $500,000 plus expenses of $300,000 worth (Bolles, 2002).
