ARTICLE IN AN ONLINE JOURNAL

Öberg, Mattias, et al. "Worldwide Burden of Disease from Exposure to Second-Hand Smoke: A Retrospective Analysis of Data from 192 Countries." The Lancet 377.9760 (2011): 139- 46. ProQuest. Web. 6 Sep. 2015.

Öberg and the other authors of Worldwide Burden of Disease from Exposure to Second-Hand Smoke: A Retrospective Analysis of Data from 192 Countries discuss the risks of second-hand smoke and relate it to the diseases and sicknesses that can happen as a result of exposure. By showing the data and information to support a case for a ban on smoking in public places this journal will aid me in adding strength to my argument.

ARTICLE IN AN ONLINE JOURNAL

Forsyth, Alasdair J. M. "The Impact Of The Scottish Ban On Smoking In Public Places Upon Nightclubs And Their Patrons." Journal Of Substance Use 17.3 (2012): 203-217.CINAHL Complete. Web. 6 Sept. 2015.

Forsyth discusses the trends and changes that have happened in Scotland as a result of a ban on smoking in public places. The data gathered shows conditions before the ban and conditions after the ban. This information will aid me in showing results from other countries and what the United States could accomplish with a nation-wide smoking ban.

ARTICLE IN AN ONLINE JOURNAL Al-Sayed, Eman, et al, and Khadiga Salah Ibrahim. "Second-Hand Tobacco Smoke And Children." Toxicology And Industrial Health 30.7 (2014): 635-644. MEDLINE Complete. Web. 6 Sept. 2015.

Al-Sayed and the other authors use parental questionnaires, nicotine and cotinine body levels, and evaluate expired carbon monoxide concentration. This journal focuses strictly on the effects of second-hand tobacco smoke on children and the health risks and disorders that are possible due to exposure. By bringing this data into my work the case for a smoking ban in places like cars, playgrounds and kid friendly environments will be stronger.

ARTICLE IN AN ONLINE JOURNAL Pérez, Claudio E. "Second-Hand Smoke Exposure--Who's At Risk?." Health Reports 16.1 (2004): 9-17. MEDLINE Complete. Web. 6 Sept. 2015.

Pérez's article examines exposure to second-hand smoke in various settings by age, sex, and region. This article will give an idea of the risks that the elderly are faced with as a result of being exposed to second-hand smoke. Showing the effects of second-hand smoke on a variety of age groups is important to show that no one is immune to this danger and that all people regardless of age, sex, and region can be affected.
