Policy Development: Final Grading Rubric
Total Points: _____x 1.5_____/150
Policy Development: Final Instructions
Review the feedback you received from your instructor for the Policy Development Draft. Make the necessary changes to your work, and resubmit the final Policy Development.
Law Enforcement Organizations are facing a tremendous problem with social media. On one hand, social media such as Facebook, My Space, and Twitter can be extremely useful for effective and efficient communication. On the other hand, Law Enforcement Executives are constantly facing situations in which employee misconduct is occurring through social media. Police Officers are accessing social media from their workstations and patrol cars during their shifts. Police Officers are posting information that is unbecoming for an officer as well as degrading and disrespectful to the profession. Police Unions and Police Officer Organizations such as the Fraternal Order of Police and the PBA are opposed to departmental policies that infringe on police officers’ constitutional rights. How do law enforcement organizations regulate the use of social media? Just about every major law enforcement organization has a Facebook account associated with the organization’s website. Therefore, should law enforcement organizations regulate individual officer’s social media activity?
As the policy manager for your law enforcement organization, please research the best practices related to the regulation of police officers use of social media and develop a department policy. This research should include interviews with your local law enforcement leaders to determine how they are addressing this issue. In addition, please read the “Social Media” study conducted by the International Association of Chiefs of Police; it can be found in the Reading & Study folder of Module/Week 8.
You must have at least 5 pages not including your title page.
I need this done by Thursday of this week. Is this possible for you to do and do a good job? I have attach the first part of this assignment that was done to give an ideal of what the first part of this assignment contain to help you out on the final assignment.

James - The reason this draft only reflects 75 points is that so many students misread the instructions in not reading carefully as the idea is to learn here and gain big points (150) on the Final of this work. So here we go for items to assist you in the correct final of this project—Read this very carefully. This assignment was of two parts; One to do the background, research and reasons for doing a departmental Social Media Policy; and Two to actually write a Social Media Policy as the second part of the instructions that many students miss-read is: …..and develop a department policy. (-7) You seemed to have done the background reasonable well, but starting at page 6 you seem to have begun to try to write a more specific policy, but it is not specific enough (has large degree of wordiness) for an employee to look at it and know exactly what he/she can and cannot do that will hold up in an administrative and/or court hearing when an employee violates it and someone will, they always do. Also I did not need to know that you interviewed several officers. The instructions indicated to interview an official (one) and when you do that you provide the documented information you learned and then you in text cite such as (B. J. Wilson, personal interview, July 15, 2015). See rule 6.20 Personal Communications of the Sixth Edition of the current APA Publication Manual. (Item # 22 of the special blackboard class announcements on Writing tips of July 18, 2015, might also have been of assistance to you too). I look forward to seeing your corrected and finished work in Week # 8.
Instructional and/or APA Items – A reference page is always a separate page (-2). Four times in the work have place a coma between the last word of a sentence and the first parenthesis of the in text cite (-4). Page 2 have a cite of (Stojkovic & Klofas, 2012); seem to have left one of you three authors, should have been (Stojkovic, Kalinich & Klofas, 2012) (-1). Page 5 have the cite of (Stojkovic and Klofas, 2012. As already had written it out in full early, this one should have been (Stojkovic et al., 2012) (-1). Page 5 & 7 has two quotes from the Bible. It appears that you may have intended to paraphrase them; however rather than saying the Bible says or the Bible in Mathew says you indicated specific chapter and specific verse that is interpreted as a direct quote. Thus the two items needed quotation marks and the version of the Bible used such as (King James Version), (New International Version) (-4). etc. Page 6 used the first person pronoun I (-1). |
