Week 5 Team Assignments - Ethical Scrapbook: Part II – Rose Bertsch

*Terrisha Smith-Good Samaritan

Do you think the individual made the best decision possible given the circumstances? - Yes, I do think that NYPD Officer Larry DePrimoalong with Yogi Omar and the Childless Woman made the best decision possible due to the circumstances. As for the officer, he could see that the man was cold, hungry and homeless. When it came to Omar due to the holiday season, Omar offered a person in need some food and a coat. Since Omar helped this man in his time of need, Omar received an offer to pay have his rent for the month. So Omar received ten-fold back for his kindness. Lastly, since his there was a women that was childless she decided to give needy children a good Christmas.

Could you see yourself acting similarly in similar circumstances? Yes, I could see myself acting in the same way under similar circumstances due to the fact that I know what it is like to be homeless and hungry.

*Brittany N. Cloer (Stultz)-Acts of Vigilantism- Violating the Law to Enforce the Law

Do you think the individual made the best decision possible given the circumstances? When it came to Zimmerman, I would not have made the decision to shoot at a teenager until I saw a gun. I feel just because the teen may have a record does not mean that he is doing anything wrong. When it comes to Mullen, first, I would not pose as a FBI Agent(against the law.) Second, I feel that sex offenders should be chemically castrated for their crimes. When it comes to Gary Sellers and Robert Bell, I would have not taken the law into my own hands. They could have gone to the judge that sentenced the pedophile. They also could have consulted with the pedophiles probation officer about their concerns.

Could you see yourself acting similarly in similar circumstances? Unlike Zimmerman, no I would not have shot the teenager until I saw a gun. Unlike Mullen, I would rally to have sex offenders castrated for their crimes. Unlike Gary Sellers and Robert Bell, I would have consulted with the pedophiles probation officer or a social worker for the courts about my concerns.

*Rose Bertsch- Acts of civil disobedience—violating the law to change the law.

Do you think the individual made the best decision possible given the circumstances? When it comes to Rosa Parks, yes I do think that she made the best decision possible given the circumstances. As for the Death Camp Guard, I feel that he should have not killed prisoners considering the circumstances. As for Norma McCorvey ("Jane Roe,") I feel that she made the best possible decision possible given the circumstances.

Could you see yourself acting similarly in similar circumstances?Yes, I would do what both Rosa Parks &Norma McCorvey ("Jane Roe,") did under similar circumstances. When it comes to the Prison Guard, I would have been made to kill prisoners (even though I feel there is a less gruesome way to kill someone rather than shooting them.

*Criminal acts committed by professionals in the course of their employment, in which the defendant was believed to have violated the ethical standards of his or her profession- Torrence Smith

Do you think the individual made the best decision possible given the circumstances? Mr. Kilpatrick and his co-defendants — including his father, Bernard, and Mr. Ferguson all did not make the best decision possible under the best circumstances. After reviewing what Dr. Farid Fata did I would find it hard to trust doctors anymore. I feel Dr. Fata did not make the best decision possible given the circumstances.

Could you see yourself acting similarly in similar circumstances? After reviewing the Kilpatrick, Ferguson & Dr. Fata cases I would have not acted the ways that they did in similar circumstances.
