Scrapbook: Part 11

Yes, all jurisdiction should have a Good Samaritan law requiring an individual to help other if they are able. We all know somebody at one time or another that need some help whether it be financial or personal help. If you are in a position to contribute assist to those that are less fortunate, why not? In an article I read, Do all states have "Good Samaritan" laws? (Rod Brouhard, EMT - P) states that “Some laws still protect only medically trained rescuers, while others offer protection to any Good Samaritan”. This pertains to California’s Good Samaritan law.

Vigilantism should never be permitted even when the criminal justice system fails. If we did not have the criminal justice system the world would be in chaos, who and what would determine people wrong from right. We are given rules, regulation and laws to make sure that we maintain a civilization to whereas if crimes are committed that the person suspected of committing a crime receives a fair an due process trial. If we were to let vigilantism govern the way we live it would be up to all citizen to take matter into their own hands and this type of action could only lead to destruction of persons and property.

There are circumstances that causes for a person to violate the law to enforce the law and I like the idea that Rosa Parks stood up for African Americans when she took the stand and had the courage not to give up her seat on the bus. In the article I read, The Story Behind the Bus (Copyright © 2002 The Henry Ford) states that “She was arrested and convicted of violating the laws of segregation, known as “Jim Crow laws.” Mrs. Parks appealed her conviction and thus formally challenged the legality of segregation. After the incident the right for African American could sit where ever they wanted to. Therefore; it is necessary to violate some laws to enforce the law because, if this incident had never took place we as Africa Americans might still be riding on the back of the bus.
