Alcohol abuse isn't just drinking daily; here are some other ways to abuse alcohol. I think that everyone has their own opinion of what they think the definition of what alcoholism, and sometimes people have to witness what and how people react when they are under the influence. Alcohol can be abused by other things like drugs, and most of the time alcohol can take a big effect on leading to drugs.
Some people think that when you are drinking daily that's the only way to abuse alcohol. You can abuse alcohol by drinking too much at a certain time, and it doesn't have to be daily. You can also use it for any difficulties that you are having in life, and also use it to drink when you are feeling bad. Alcoholism can sneak up to you just from your genetics, and can be easy to get addicted if you are using it the wrong way. It also can depend on how you were raised, if you were raised in an environment of alcohol use or abuse it has a very high chance of catching up to you. Those who suffer from a mental health problem such as anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder are also particularly at risk, because alcohol may be used to self-medicate.
Substance abuse experts make a distinction between alcohol abuse and alcoholism (also called alcohol dependence). Unlike alcoholics, alcohol abusers have some ability to set limits on their drinking. However, their alcohol use is still self-destructive and dangerous to themselves or others. Many drinking problems start when people use alcohol to self-soothe and relieve stress. Getting drunk after every stressful day, for example, or reaching for a bottle every time you have an argument with your spouse or boss.\
Alcohol can also have a lot of effects on the brain and the body. Most people who have became an alcohol for a huge amount of years can suffer from liver damage. You can also suffer from memory loss. I think that a lot of disease can lead on from alcoholism.
I personally think that if you drink to solve any problems you are an alcoholic. I don’t think if you go out to have fun every weekend or during the week you are. Sometimes when people are facing a problem they turn to drugs or alcohol. Often when a family member is an alcoholic they can be abusive, and it can put any ones family in danger. People have different opinions on what they think is the true definition of an alcoholic.
