Riordan System Proposal

Riordan manufacturing system has been proposed which exhibit efficiency over the current system so as to penetrate into the market demands and improve an overall system performance. As proposed, the current system will have the following advantages over the existing system.

· It will enable multiple users to access and edit information simultaneously.

· The system will enhance security over various forms of data access.

· It will eliminate the duplication of data system and hence reduce a lot of mistakes being made which gives a lot of work.

· It will ensure the production of meaningful results.

The following section discusses informational requirements as well as the expected system transactions in Riordan product collaborative development. The main purpose will be to do an analysis of the requirement of the system needed for collaborative support of product design activities, resource manufacturing planning and process planning such that the information system meetsthese requirements. The main effort will be to avoid disrupting various processes to information flow but only provide the necessary improvements so as to encourage virtual and cooperative manufacturing.

Data flow

“While implementing the logic application of the system, the decisions of the implementation will provide a description on how the system will be functional” ,(Trina Chiasson, Dyanna Gregory, 2014). This includes details of implementation, which include storage of data files, human action programs, databasetables and the physical mediatransfers. If the system is implemented clearly, the expected service will be achieved with clear and simple results

( Execution of application logic ) ( HR PC )

( Server ) ( Data approval process ) ( Records unlock ) ( Tables updates ) ( Execution of logic and manipulation data ) ( User data collection ) ( Update of application data ) ( Feedback process ) ( Custom task process ) ( Data source comparison ) ( Data from user )

Access control and information flow

( Manufacturing Plant Enterprise Planning )After deciding to replace the current system with the proposed system Riordan will now operate with the proposedsystem. Below is the indication of the information flow within the enter plant.

( Management of Customer relation ) ( Human resource Management ) ( Finance resource management )

( Manufacturing resource management ) ( Management of supply chain )

( Main business functions of Riordan )

( Product shipping ) ( Packing ) ( Sales ) ( Production ) ( Inventory ) ( Warehousing ) ( Suppliers ) ( Reception )

Proposed Business Process Changes

So as to ensure quality control and operations consistency, a new system will be implemented.these changes will apply in the products tracking, reception of raw materials and finished goods inventory and accounting control. As an addition, the system will reduce time wastage in the production and inventory.

Reception of raw materials

( Warehouse ) ( Inventory of verified items )Prior to the raw material reception, orders will be imputated into new system. Through an electronic means, the order will be submitted to the supplier. Then the suppliers will give feedbacks on the available quantities and arrival time for management of traffic in the reception area(Phillip Kaminsky, 2007).In the supply, area two barcodes will be applied to the containers which will contain both the actual product and shipping information. Another addition barcode will contain information such as quantity of products in the containers, weight, volume and the type of material. This information will be entered electronically into the system by use of a scanner. Onarrival, the materials will be checked against the information.

( Barcode verifications ) ( Riordan orders ) Rejected items

( Orders arrives )

( Supplier receives orders ) ( Orders shipping )

Inventory and manufacturing

Sub-assembly and raw materials will be called upon for manufacturing processes. Each material used will be entered into the system using a device held by hand or in the work station. This process will be used to give an inventory of real time usage (Allan Harrison, 2015). Each product which comes out the lines of manufacturing will be electronically scanned and barcoded then added into the inventory system.

( Inventory of finished products ) ( Sub inventory and raw materials )

Request of raw Supply of requested materials

Materials

( Production )

Shipping of final products

The sale department receives and completes the orders which have been made by various customers. These orderswill then be entered into the billing and shipping system then sent to the warehouse so as to be fulfilled. After they are fulfilled, theywill then be loaded to the trucks to be shipped. Thedate, truck number and dispatch timewill then be electronically updated into the system(Noam Chomsky, 2002).

( Orders fulfilment ) ( Orders management ) ( Product preparation for shipping )

( Truck loading ) ( Final Customer fulfilment )

Conclusion

The system will offer a modern and approach of human integration to improve the product quality, maximise efficiency within Riordan manufacturing environment and improve operations within the entire plant.. If the system is implemented clearly, the expected service will be achieved with clear and simple results
