I want to talk about what I think reading those article and I didn’t read it at once, I was actually reading it during this clinical experience at the Pepin Academy. At the beginning I didn’t understand most of the terminology but then when I started reading the books it started to make sense to me and also attended the seminars were really beneficial . Moreover, watching the student implementing the strategies also gave me a clear picture. I started to get excited because I was connecting what I see with what I read; not to mention, how difficult it is to use strategies based on research. It need deep understanding and around experience. When you read something and try to do it, it is just another dimension it gives you another prospective. Indeed, it was an approach based on research which was missing in Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, even in Jordon they struggled to make that happened because of the limited resources and finance. On the other hand, here (USA) most of what I have seen was actually related to the papers that I was reading . Additionally, the articles that I read a lot of them focuses on the (C-R-A)(concrete- representational - Abstract)strategy and incorporate with other cognitive and instructional components to solve the world problem .To tell the truth, I was little bit suspicious when I heard that they will use those strategies with not just struggling student (LD students) but also with other special need students. But I learned that with the professional sport and the guiding that the professors offers to the interns it could work and shows improvement. Moreover, those strategies were repeated over and over in most of what I have read. Even thought, I didn’t fallow the names that Dr . Allsopp gave me; however, the techniques keep showing.

One of the class that I was observing the teacher (intern) was straggling with one of her student. this little girl wasn’t able to choose the bigger number before the reading the number sense article I thought that she have some memory problems but it was actually that she didn’t understand the value of the number she doesn’t have any sense when it comes to numbers. Additionally, the Exploratory Study of a Number Sense Program suggested that number sense might help a wild range of students and especially those students whom come from a poor income family.

During my observation, I notice that the professors used explicit, systematic, and strategic instruction with the interns (not just ESE student). Actually, that’s what I found in teaching mathematics meaningfully as a teacher we continuously should adjust and make instructional decision when we work with ESE students or undergrads students .

for the last research paper that I read, it was just that I wanted to read something different, but still it in the area of mathematical difficulties, so I read about gifted student with MD . Additionally, in the article Self-Regulation in Learning Mathematics Online the author points out that self-regulation is a skill must be thought and student could learn it. Increasing self-regulation is what I think as a special Ed teacher that’s what I want for the ESE students so they can be productive in life and hopefully reach their goal. To be brief, this clinical experience with the reading really helped me to have deeper understanding and opened my eyes to the different path and make me aware of different dynamics which makes me more excited and give me push to do what I like.
