Assignment: write an academic research essay. Choose one of the following options:
1. What has life been like for Muslim Americans after 9/11? ……………………………
Consider the issue from multiple angles so that you can have a better understanding of the issue as a whole; additionally, understand the perspective from which you see the issue so that you can have a better understanding of how others might see it differently than you.
After you choose a topic, research it. Once you have an understanding of what is being said about the issue, start writing what you think about it (in relation to the sources that you’ve gathered). Remember, your goal is never to “prove” something right or wrong. Your goal should always be to understand an issue, understand what is being said about the issue, and to contribute something new to the conversation on that issue.
