A Comparison between Men and Women as Single Parents

The comparison is between two subjects, men and women, as single parents. Men are just

like women, can singly raise a child or children in the best way. Although there are many single

mothers compared to single fathers, men can responsibly raise a child on their own the same way

women do or even much better (Edwards 45). Each parent is responsible to do jobs such as

having a source of living, requiring balance, giving their children the opportunity to choose

whatever they want and taking care of them.

A woman parents and men parents as well have to work to earn a living. A woman parent

has to have a source of living from which she can be able to raise her child. A man parent also

requires a source of income in order to provide for his children. There is no exception to this fact.

If both do not have any source of living, they will have trouble in raising their children.

There is a need to balance the activities at work in the house to ensure that one does not

give too much attention to their children and forget about work or does not focus so much on the

work. Single men parents have to balance their activities at home, work, and with friends.

Women parents, likewise, have to balance between their work, home, and friends. Both the men

and women parents will have challenges balancing their duties. Although women parents are

better parents than men parents are, the challenges they are faced with also affect the men parents.

After separation of parents, children have the most difficult moment. At times, the

children have to attend court sessions for their custody to be determined. Some children may end

up with parents they did not want. Such a problem is a problem that men parents have to deal

with when the children they are bringing up did not prefer them. The women parents have also to

build a relationship with the children again if the children did not prefer them. A child can prefer

to live with the father or mother depending on the kind of relationship they have had previously.

Women parents as well as men parents have to deal with rejection from the children they are

bringing up.

A single parent would want his or her child to grow up knowing that being brought up by

their mothers or fathers were the best things for them. A woman parent would want his or her

child to grow up knowing that living with their mother was the best thing for them. Likewise, a

man parent would not bring up their children with the notion that it would have been best for

them if they ended up with their mother.

There are many cases where men have been allowed to take custody of their children

leaving out the women. Women also have taken custody of the children instead of men. It is not

certain that a woman will be the best parent, neither is it certain that a man will be the best parent.

The best parent can only be determined by evaluating both parents and the life they have been

living with the children. It is important to know that single parents do not always result from

separations. When one parent dies, the one who is left, either man or woman has to take care of
