Critical Thinking Project

Steve Jobs was the CEO and co-founder of Apple Inc. and marked a great revolution of personal computers and smart-phones. His principle of computers being consumer appliances that can be used by anyone and at an affordable price is one that would be most preferable in the design and development of personal computers. As such, designers and developers of computers and other similar products should out his principle into consideration to enable them develop user friendly and innovative gadgets that are not beyond the reach of many consumers. PC owners tend to champion their own course and thus, their principle tends to be oblivious of the consumer since, many believe in the development of computers that can be easily upgraded in total oblivion of the price.

Computer shoppers will often purchase items based on the price and the ability of such an item to perform its functions without failure. As such, many computer shoppers would prefer Steve Job’s principle as opposed to PC owner’s principle. This is because Steve Jobs principle is pegged on the welfare of the end user by ensuring that the computer gadgets can easily be used and are affordable to the majority of the consumers.

As a computer designer, incorporating flexibility for my customers, while ensuring that the product is approachable for non-techs, would be my greatest priority. To achieve this and ensure a balance between the two, I would design computers in such a way that I integrate new features into the computer while ensuring that these features make use of basic computer skills that are familiar with many. As such, my customers would always look forward to the next innovative gadget to be released in the market while the non-techs would be attracted by the friendly and easy user interface associated with the product.
