Module 3 is on Frequency Distributions.

         You need to work on mean, variance and standard deviation. Empirical rule will answer the 1st question and grasp the concepts of z-scores for #2. #5 is based on grouped data, so you need to find the mid- points and then proceed.  Follow the links in the background Info to solve the problems. Tomorrow I will be sending the links for both case and SLP for extra help. 

 Using the tabular method in the excel sheet is more convenient way to go. Learn how to perform basic operations using the cells. I will be sending one example similar to #5 with the formula. Figure out the difference between sample variance and population variance. While using the variance formula, the denominator is n-1 in case of sample and n in case of population, where n is the number of data values.

For SLP you have to find out the standard deviation of your own data. The important thing is you have to answer whether your data is normally distributed or not? That means you have to construct a frequency distribution and draw a histogram for the data and check if the curve is bell shaped or not. If it is skewed, positively skewed or negatively skewed. For implications, if applicable analyze empirical rule. 

Even though there are several methods used to check for normality, none of the methods are absolutely definitive. So the easiest way is to draw a histogram for the data and check the shape. If the curve is approximately bell shaped and not significantly skewed then the distribution is approximately normally distributed and nothing is wrong with that as it is hard to find a perfectly normal curve.

 Participate effectively and efficiently in DQ. DQ 3 problem is based on z-scores.  Follow the link below for z-scores and it is there in the Background. You can follow other links for a better knowledge.
