I love these shoes! So much that I ordered a second pair in taupe. The leather is so soft. They are very comfortable, despite the height. I always get compliments when I wear them. I ordered wide, the black are wider that the taupe, but the leather is so soft, both work. These shoes are made beautifully and are worth the money.
3. Current Event: We will have a daily “What to Wear” post to show our consumers what fashions we would pair our footwear with. In the image below, we are pairing our knee-high boot, the “Keeley”, with several different articles of clothing to give the consumer an idea of what they can pair the boots with in their own closet.
4. Ever wonder where Naya designers get their inspiration? You’re in luck! For this week’s “How Do You Naya?” we’re going behind the scenes with Naya’s very own Jillian Stanley.
· What inspires you the most when you design for Naya? My inspiration springs from many places—the usual fashion suspects such as shopping and perusing the internet—but I also get tons of inspiration from reading books, listening to music, traveling for enjoyment and just observing people wherever I am. You learn so much about the natural evolution of fashion by watching the strangers who pass you by.
· What can Naya fans look forward to in the Fall 2012 Collection? Naya fans can look forward to classic pieces with a soft and interesting twist. We’ve logged the hours perfecting the look, feel, and touch of our leathers and materials to ensure each pattern has the special worn-in, and “go to” appeal. Expect rich, deep color and an excellent representation of the neutral color palette being called out for Fall.
· How do you support Naya’s mission statement in your everyday life? As far as renewing the earth— I am always striving to be better, but I recycle at home and am lucky to work in a place that values recycling as well. I also bring my own flatware, tea cups and plates to work in order to minimize the use of disposable containers.
· What’s your favorite way to relax after a long day? My perfect relaxing end to the day is going on a run with my fiancé, cooking dinner for friends, and then going to bed a little too late because I’m reading a good book.
· Do you participate in any outdoor activities that renew your mind, body or spirit? Running helps me clear my mind, breath deeper, and sleep better. It’s also a great way to get outside and absorb more of that people watching I mentioned before. I also really enjoy snow skiing and consider myself to be an extremely novice wake boarder!
5. Each week we will do an online poll of various things. One example would be to post pictures of an upcoming style that will be released in the next line (in several different colors) and then polling the customer’s to see which their favorite color is. They could help determine which of the colors actually gets made – the top three voted on colors would be put into production.
6. Each week, Naya Shoes will be giving away a free pair of shoes to 5 lucky winners. To be eligible to win, log into our blog and make a comment on one of the stories. The contest runs from Saturday at 12:00 a.m. to Friday evening at 11:59 EST. At that time, 5 posts will be chosen at random. Each of those winners will receive an email telling them how they can claim their prize.
7. Questions and Comments:
Q: How is Naya different?
A: Naya was born from the belief that shoes should be beautiful on your feet, soft on your step and gentle on the environment. Because you should never have to choose between what looks good, what feels good and what is good for you and for the earth.
Q: Where is Naya manufactured?
A: Consistent with the majority of the footwear industry, sourcing and manufacturing for Naya is based in China's special industrialized zones. Many of our relationships with partner factories have been in place for more than 20 years. Additionally, representatives from our company -- lead designers and executive management (including our CEO and president) -- are highly involved in development and production, visiting oversea factories on several occasions throughout the course of the year.
Q: How does sizing run for Naya?
A: While Naya shoes run true to size, there are many elements to consider that can affect shoe size and selection. Are your feet narrow? Are they on the wider side? Because everyone’s feet are different, only you’ll be able to make the best determination for what feels most comfortable. The best way to learn your size is by trying on a Naya style at a nearby retailer. Here’s a link to our store locator that can help: http://www.nayashoes.com/community/storelocator.aspx
Q: Is Naya available in Narrow and Wide Widths?
A: Naya is available in narrow width, size 6 – 10, 11 and wide width, size 6 – 10, 11, 12. They are also made in standard with “medium”, size 4 – 11,12.
Q: What about your products make them eco-friendly?
A: The Naya colletion has been designed to leave a smaller footprint, so we use material like…
Organic Cotton: grown without pesticides or genetic engineering which helps preserve biodiversity of the plant and the soil; unlike many other fabrics, cotton is produced without the use of petrochemicals, which are made from oil.
Recycled Rubber: comes primarily from recycled car tires, which are broken down in particulate matter so the steel reinforcement can be removed; once the steel is out, the rubber is made into a powder which can then be made into other materials, like shoe soles.
Water Based Glue: Solvent-based glues can release compounds that contribute to air and water pollution. To combat these, our brand utilizes water-based glues to minimize pollutants during shoe production.
Bamboo: is very a very sustainable resource – a bamboo plant can grow up to 24 inches in a single day. For footwear, bamboo fiver derived from bamboo pulp is woven into a fabric that is naturally soft, UV resistant, anti-bacterial, temperature regulating and absorbent.
Vegetable Tanned Leather: Although leather is not vegan or vegetarian, it is a natural material. When tanned in an environmentally responsible way, like vegetable-tanning, its durability and the fact that it is not synthetically produced makes it a more eco-friendly option.
Cork: is a natural substance that is sustainable and recyclable, stripped from the cork oak tree. It is light, durable and almost impermeable to liquids. Its elasticity and density suits it to footwear. When used in the soles of shoes, it can absorb shock
PET Plastic: many of our shoes use recycled Pet, or plastic. PET is the abbreviation of Polyethylene Terephthalate, which is basically the clear plastic that comes from soda and water bottles.
