WEEK 07 OFFICE TRAINING PROJECT

WEEK 07 OFFICE TRAINING PROJECT

Introduction

Unemployment rates have been on the increase, especially based on the conditions the employees would like to be hired for, and the skills they possess. Most of the employers find it highly difficult to explain why the problem of unemployment is still high while there are numerous jobs in the industry. The problem is caused as a result of most employees lacking necessary skills to fill all the vacant positions that exist in industries today. Companies and major organizations are however partly to blame for this problem, especially considering the issue of a mismatch between the skills possessed by employees and the strict requirements imposed by the organization (Cappeli, 2010).

Document how your training will assist in filling the skills gap connected with these employees.

According to a survey conducted, only 8% of the company executives in the United States agreed that the problem of skills gap can be eliminated in the short run. Others could not be in agreement with these sentiments, due to the widespread effects that are being felt concerning the issue. The majority of the company executives believed that most employees lack various skills and specifications required in the job market, especially those that are consistent with the organization specifications. Training and motivation are the major solutions to the problem of the skills gap in major entities. In my opinion, I would foster training for those employees in the organization, especially in the areas they are not sufficient with. This will enable most of the new employees to adapt quickly to their job places, and embrace the company procedures, as well as be more efficient in their language. Other training will include; impacting computer skills, ensuring technical leadership in various departments and applying critical thinking in dealing with the problem of “skills gap”.

How might you assist the employees in the technical training they require in connection with the training topic you have chosen?

Technical skills in major workstations are required, especially in today’s society. This is due to the new technological aspects and advancements that have been embraced by major organizations. To assist employees in the technical training they require in connection with the training in organization procedures, I will ensure there is emphasis on good morale, morale fosters, attitude in the job and pride in what you do, especially to first create a conducive environment for working. This will ensure employees are ready to learn and gain more knowledge on several issues in the organization. Another strategy will be to delegate tasks to almost all employees in the organization, and provide mentors for new employees, who will guide them in various job responsibilities. With such strategies implemented, work procedures and requirements for all employees will be adequately fulfilled due to job satisfaction.

The solution to Maria's problem

Most companies tend to save on costs that will have to be incurred in the process of apprenticeship and regular training to solve the problem of a skills gap, I see this first hand in my current place of employment. Most organizations fear to lose especially when the newly trained employees leave and the company has to train others all again (Bradsma, 2010). Organizations should, therefore, be diligent in ensuring the success of such training programs and also, to see that the employees are retained and give back to the company, after their training. Retaining loyal employees will, therefore, ensure that the company mission and vision is upheld and that procedures are well adhered to. The lack of Basic English skills by office employees can be well solved through several considerations.

Maria has been the organization's employee for a long period, her skills and competencies especially in the organization of paperwork and files, scheduling drivers for deliveries, and keeping updated logbooks. My recommendation would be to do everything possible to ensure retention of Maria, especially since she is conversant with major company procedures and also being a loyal worker. The problem of English skills can be tracked through training, especially facilitation of workshops and also being patient with her in her line of duty. This will enable Maria to feel appreciated and welcomed in the company. Coaching Maria directly can also help, especially during working hours by taking to her and interpreting several words she does not understand. I worked for a company that required me to speak Farsi it was difficult, but the training that was provided made it duable.

These factors will be of great benefit to Maria, considering her patience and value in the company. She should be able to benefit from the training program as well as the other employees and be completely embraced and accepted by all other organization members. Her limited English speaking skills will, therefore, be highly improved, and she will remain grateful for the organization stakeholders and the personnel (Learning, 2010). These aspects and help prevent the skills gap problem in the major organization, as compared to the reluctance of employing employees considered; not fit and conversant with organization requirements'.
