future financial needs
Click here to enter text. Simply create a 4-5 sentence introduction for your paper. A good intro for this unique little assignment will simply describe your career aspirations and financial goals. Remember, this is a HYPOTHETICAL and IDEAL budget. The idea is to think about what you would like your life to be like 5 years after graduation/promotion. Think big, don’t be afraid to dream! Price out a nice vacation for yourself, for example. Google the average yearly cost of scrubs for nurses; find out how much experts recommend you put aside for your childs education, etc. Check out my “sample” budget so you can see what I mean and also look in the bibliography at the end of this file for suggested websites to consult for big ticket items. Please do not base this on your real-life circumstances right now nor should you divulge any personal or actual financial information. However, if you already live in your dream home and drive your dream car, for example, its ok to include that (just ballpark the numbers to protect your financial privacy).

Explanation and reflection
Click here to enter text. First, you’ll want to explain how you arrived at the numbers in your budget (again, see my sample budget for ideas). Be sure to explain any 0s that I cannot explain away using commons sense – for example, if your employer covers the cost of continuing education, say so here and place E/E in the table (E/E = employer expense); if the cost of your uniform is covered by an expense account at work, state this here as well and place E/E in the table; if you have no credit cards or no children, enter N/A into the table where appropriate (though no need to explain as it’s self-explanatory). Please explain every 0 in some way as this will make it easier for me to grade your work. Be very careful to look at the rubric for this assignment – there are some entries in the budget table that are necessary, such as “Estimating reasonable expenses for continued education”, etc. Second, by way of concluding this assignment, please expound upon the utility of your dream budget. Is it motivating? Had you been imagining something better or worse else post-graduation? And that’s all!
Works Cited
At the very least, you are required to provide a proper APA reference (and in-text citation) to the articles consulted in your research – in this case, the websites you used to estimate your dreams… for example, if you use trulia.com to find your dream home cost and calculate your mortgage, cite it (and any other similar sites you utilized). I recommend using these sites: Salary report for your profession: payscale.com Dream home: Zillow.com (scroll down to see the taxes each year too!) Mortgage calculation: mortgagecalculator.org Dream car: Truecar.com (use their built in payment calculator and don’t forget to check on car insurance too) Continuing education: Bigfuture.collegeboard.org/pay-for-college/college-costs/college-costs-calculator Click here to enter your references. References should be single spaced, with a double space between different entries (see below). Please format them in APA style – if you need help with that, please watch this 5 minute video explaining APA - http://www.screencast.com/users/KUWC/playlists/Citation+Videos/media/3d5e3cc5-d71c-4359-8c85-ff862e313a9f. Remember, APA citing and referencing are part of your grade on all assignments. See the SAMPLE budget for info on how to site the websites above for general use.
Three more things: 1. Be sure to “save as” your file and enter your last name in the file name where indicated. This will help me tremendously in identifying papers Ive downloaded, thanks! 2. If you lose any formatting while working with this template, just reset it to Times New Roman, 12 point font, and double-spaced. The margins and page numbering should not be affected. 3. Don’t forget to fill in the cover page! DON’T FORGET TO DELETE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TEMPLATE BEFORE YOU SUBMIT THE FILE!
