Introduction

The definition of a lie has been rendered oblique because truth and morality are defined differently by different peoples of varying ethnic and cultural backgrounds. However, the same has not been bought by religion. It draws a very clear distinction between lies and truth. Owing to this; therefore, it would be a fundamental question to ask if the same spiritual definition of truth should be applied as the basic law. There are different kinds of truth as has been defined by various people. That is the universal truth, the golden law, and other types. In this case, it would therefore4 be very clear that the element of truth has long since been watered down. It would, therefore, call for the need to redefine the truth as it should be. This scenario echo banduras theory that human beings tend to justify their actions through all means including creating a right out of the wrong. The underlying ramifications of telling and justifying lies are the fact that it would lead to a lack of openness and accountability. This calls for the need to do away with lies in the best way possible. It would be very necessary that way. The media, however, have served to propagate instead of nullifying the vice.

Body

The fact that Eleanor of Aquitaine cannot be trusted by her children, ‘You're so deceitful you can't ask for water when you're thirsty. We could tangle spiders in the webs you weave (Prince Richard) an indication that the mother has lots of history in lying. This is what makes it difficult for the children to trust her. She talks about them being products of war and not fate or chance. This is driving and feeding the children to being shrewd and witty in their actions and thoughts. That is probably a preparation mechanism into forcing the king to surrender the inheritance for them, forcefully. Since the King is not about to surrender his riches as inheritance to the family members, they are planning to do so forcefully, especially with the help of the mother who trains them psychologically through her soothing words. ‘Oh, my piglets, we are the origins of war, not history's forces, nor the times, nor justice, nor the lack of it, nor causes, nor religions, nor ideas, nor kinds of government, nor any other thing. We are the killers. We breed wars. We carry it like syphilis inside. Dead bodies rot in field and stream because the living ones are rotten. For the love of God, can't we love one another just a little? That's how peace begins. We have so much to love each other for. We have such possibilities, my children. We could change the world'' (Eleanor of Aquitaine 1) (htt)

This is an indication that the mother is preparing her children for fighting their father. The claims that they are made out of war is a lie since she would advocate for peace and loving among the family members. ‘We have so much to love each other for. We have such possibilities, my children. We could change the world.(2). This is an indication that there is no straightforwardness, talking about peace when the main agenda is war. This screws everything up confusing the children and hijacking their thoughts through wittiness. I view this as very unfortunate and lethal for the whole mutual living and coexistence of the entire family. This is what normally drifts the children farther and farther from their father, without realizing the reason for that. I am of the opinion that the mothers should always play a fundamental role in uniting the family through making the children love their father.

It wasn't a good show for Eleanor of Aquitaine to shout at the father of the children in front of them all. This is a lesson of disrespect instead of forging a better way forward into teaching obedience and respect among the children. The issues of the family should always be discussed among all the members, but the exclusion of the father in the whole deal of inheritance shows some waywardness. I think that the father could better be persuaded openly by the family instead of planning to make forcefully him issue a directive of inheritance. This indicates greed grounded in lies. The whole operation is very dangerous for the well-being of a family. It could turn violent with losses of lives (htt1)

Conclusion

The kind of lies in the play reflects the negative side of using a lot of lying within a setup like a family. The members get to lose trust on each other and eventually break the cord of oneness and unity. It is very essential to ensure that a united unit like a family has basic moral standards like being honest and sincere with each other. This will cause a buildup of trust and faithfulness in the family. Mothers are the builders and destroyers of a family, and they should always take their children through moral lessons on how to respect their father, themselves and the world as a whole. That would contribute to peace.
