ENG 215 Research And Writing

Dr. Saraswathi Lakshmanan

April 27, 2015

The topic selected is, ‘Should regulations for homeschools be changed?' The reason for using this title is that there has been a growing number of people who prefer to have their children schooling at home as opposed to having them go to public places to begin their academics. Another reason is because few regulations exist that govern home schooling. Thus, changing the regulations would make the home school viable and effective as taking children to institutions of learning to mingle and interact with their peers. Therefore, this paper will examine the regulations governing home schooling and establish the rationale as to whether there is the need for changes or not by measuring them against its benefits.

The audience includes officials in the ministry of education, parents, teachers, students, researchers and education promoters. One of the characteristics of the audience includes decision-making, for instance; the parents are entitled to decide on what kind of schooling their children would be part of. Policymaking is another trait that is evident with those working in the ministry and promoters. Vocal opinions would come out from researchers, students and analysts whose point of view differs.

The scope of the paper will be on schooling with home schools and its regulations being the point of focus. The papers will contain the introduction that supplies the reader with the overview of the topic. The discussion section will contain the arguments of the specific points. Lastly is the conclusion, which will summarize the write-up. Some of the questions to be answered include: what is the perception of home schools? What regulations on home schools exist? How do children subjected to home schools perform? What is the quality of home schools compared to other forms of schools?

The research plan will include utilizing primary and secondary sources of information. Qualitative and quantitative methods will be utilized. Interviews will be conducted in order to get the views of the public.
