You are a newly hired investigator for the U.S. Public Defenders Office within your state.You have been asked by the United States Attorney for your office to provide a paper of 1–2 pages on the Bill of Rights.
The first 10 Amendments of the U.S. Constitution are commonly referred to as the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights contains the foundation of the rights provided to individuals who are accused of committing crimes. In your paper, address the following points:
· Provide a brief overview of the rights contained within the Bill of Rights' Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments that apply to criminal defendants. (30%)
· Choose 1 of the specific rights from above, and discuss how that right has affected procedures implemented in law enforcement, the courts, or correctional facilities. (30%)
· Do you agree or disagree with the way that this right has been implemented in the criminal justice system? Why or why not? Support your statements with research and examples. (35%)

Assignment 2:
The U.S. Supreme Court has granted lower courts the power to hear cases. This power is known as jurisdiction. You remain an investigator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and you have a suspect that is in the neighboring state. The U.S. Attorney wants to arrest this person but believes in training his investigators, so he has asked you to research the topic of jurisdiction. Then, he wants you to write a paper of 1–2 pages that covers the following:
· Define the terms subject matter jurisdiction and personal jurisdiction. (20%)
· What are the requirements of personal jurisdiction in a federal court? (20%)
· Explain the 3 different types of personal jurisdiction, which you have learned from your reading, research, and lectures. The three types of personal jurisdiction are personam jurisdiction, in rem jurisdiction, and quasi in rem jurisdiction. Provide examples for each. (30%)
· The 2 types of cases that federal courts may hear are criminal cases and civil cases. Explain each type, and give an example or examples. (25%)
