Directions for learner

A- In this section of this performance assessment task, you are required to estimate the annual cost of your college education by first completing your student profile.

To complete your student profile, take the following steps:

1) Go to “ http://berkeleycollege.financialaidtv.com/

2) Go to the “Finances” tab and scroll down to find the “Net Price Calculator”

3) Click on the net price calculator and complete the student profile based on your personal information.

4) Submit the resulted student profile as your answer to part A. (Hint: You are advised to visit the site before you attempt to formally complete the survey so that you can be prepared to correctly answer the questions. Please note that the student is not required to use their personal information for this activity.)

B- NEW YORK (CNN-Money) – “Students graduating from college last year walked away with more than a diploma, they also left with a record level of student loan debt. College seniors who took out loans to fund their college education owed an average of $25,250, according to a report from the Institute for College Access & Success' Project on Student Debt.”

Based on your student profile,

1) Calculate the total cost of your College education.

(Hint: Total cost = Annual cost x Total years at Berkeley College)

2) Calculate the total amount of your student loans for your Berkeley college education. (Hint: Total amount of the loan = Annual loan amount x Total years at College.) (If no loans were required, please enter a loan amount between $10,000 and $25,250)

C- Student Loan Payment:

1. Use http://www.finaid.org/calculators/loanpayments.phtml/ to estimate your monthly payment on your total amount of your student loans (stated in B part 2), based on a 10-year repayment plan with an interest rate of 3.5%.

2. Write a linear equation describing your monthly student loan balance.

3. Make a table of values describing the monthly loan balance for the first six months.

4. Use paper and pencil or any graphing software to draw the graph of the equation.

5. State a linear equation describing that you pay the same amount for your student loan every month. (This monthly amount should be the same as stated in C part 1)

6. Use paper and pencil or any graphing software to draw the graph describing your monthly student loan payment.

D- Employment and linear equation

According to research, an entry-level job is a job that is normally designed or designated for recent graduates of a given discipline, and does not require prior experience in the field or profession. Entry-level jobs which are targeted at college graduates often offer a higher salary. These positions are more likely to require specific skills and knowledge. Most entry-level jobs offered to college graduates are full-time permanent positions, and some offer more extensive graduate training programs.
