Assignment 4 – Blog 3 Instructions

One of the objectives of this course is for you to learn “in real time”. This means that the lecturer does not pre-set the topic for you to write in your blog.

Look at the Newsfeed link in Interact2 (found in Assignment 4 tab). Look at it a day or two later. You will find that the news will change. It is live!

If you find any news that relates to ethical communication in the workplace and what you have just read in the chapter above, make sure you reference it correctly. You may find several items or none. If there is none, come back in a few hours on the next day.

Remember this newsfeed changes many times each day, so if you find a good article - make sure you copy it out and reference it correctly) and look for an item which you think is relevant to what you have read.

As an example:  If you are writing about the topic “Abiding by the Law” and “Telling the Truth” as stated in Goals of Ethical Business Communication, the following news story clearly indicates that ethical communication is important. Blue Leap LLC in Georgia, USA uses technology and communication to gain a client’s trust. (Culp, 2013). Guffey (2011) mentions that withholding information may lead to misunderstanding.

And then remember to reference at the end of your blog :

Culp, M.L. (2013, February 23). The Ride: Communication, technology, help gain client trust. knoxvillebiz.com. Retrieved from http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/feb/23/ride-communication-technology-help-gain-client-tru/

Guffey, M.L. & Loewy …...<reference the book in full here>...........

Only at the last resort, you may also go elsewhere to find a topic if you cannot find a “live topic”  but remember the case you pick must not be older than 2014. We want to learn and cite current issues and examples. Remember to reference it correctly, otherwise your lecturer/marker will never be able to find the article.

Write a blog item of about 500 words with at least two different references. More references are welcome.
