Objective: Be able to correctly use and interpret Chi-Square test, a test for independence between two qualitative variables.

1. You may have noticed that some of the people at the beginning of the study were smokers. You may be interested to know if smoking status at baseline is independent of gender? Smoking status and gender are both nominal (i.e., qualitative) variables. The best method to examine the relationship between two nominal variables is using CHI SQUARE test statistic.
