20-30 word Synopsis of the Story

This is a story about an elderly trishaw uncle who was being bullied and beaten up by a drunkard man.

(Just for your understanding the the theme is Heritage. Its SG50! To coincide with the celebrations. This assignment will revolve around the theme of Heritage. You are to explore the theme give, come up with concept and Genre for your story)

Full write up of story:

Uncle Tan, aged 65 has been pulling his trishaw for many decades. He was a kind hearted man who make an honest living and always offers his help to whoever in need. At times when he came across starving child while riding his customers, he would return with some bread after he send his customer to his destination. Or when he saw lost child on the street he would offer them a ride to the police station.

One Saturday night, Uncle Tan was not feeling well but he still go ahead pulling his trishaw around for businesses. He took a short break after a long day then he met a drunkard American man nearby a pub at Clarke Quay. The drunkard man was filled with strong alcohol smell and was holding a half drank bottle staggering around beside the road with 2 of his friends talking loudly. After which they went on their separate ways, he saw Uncle Tan beside a drink stall taking a break and waved at him to ask for a ride back to his hotel nearby which is about 2 to 3 streets away from where they are. Uncle Tan helped him to his trishaw and started paddling.

During the ride, the drunkard man was making a nuisance on the trishaw, stamping and hitting on the seat. He felt that the ride was very slow and demanded to go faster. Uncle Tan who’s not in his best condition but still tried his very best to accommodate to his request.

Upon reaching his hotel, he got off and walked away nonchalantly without paying. Uncle Tan went after him for payment but was beaten up harshly and left alone lying on the ground. He was punched in the face followed by a few kicks in the stomach and was hit by the glass bottle on his head. Blood was running out from his nose and head.

Uncle Tan was semi- conscious, darkness overwhelmed him and he felt as if he was dying. At this point of time, a young man came forward to give him a hand and called for an ambulance. He went on to accompany uncle Tan to the nearest hospital and waited for him throughout.

Uncle Tan suffered fracture on his nose bridge, abrasion and open wound on his head. He needs to be hospitalised for a few days for treatment and observation. When he regain conscious, he saw the young man who have helped him was in the room accompanying him.

The young man asked uncle Tan do he remember that he once saved a little boy who was almost got abducted away from a bad guy.
