Media Assignment: Several movies have been selected that could help in furthering your understanding of personality & adjustment, as it relates to social psychological theories. They should broaden and expand your knowledge of many of the theories and issues discussed in this course. Please view one of these films/movies looking for what the particular film/movie has to offer in regard to personality theories, mental growth, mental deterioration, stress, coping strategies, and/or adjustment. How might any of the above apply to the movie’s subject matter or lesson? You are required to view only one of the following film/movies/videos as part of the Discussion Board and writing assignment: Do not watch your MOVIE too soon! :)

As you watch the video, think about what this film is trying to say. What is the film doing? How does it relate to the concepts and theories in the corresponding chapters of your textbook? What did you learn from the film? What does the film leave out according to the personality or social psychological theories presented in class and from your personal experience? Remember you are not watching these films for merely entertainment. Rather, you should view them with curiosity and attempt to connect them to the psychological content you have studied in the course.

Your discussion of the movie will be guided by specific questions. (See each assignment in the indicated learning module). Finally, your movie log summary should be guided by the following questions. You may assume one, a few, or all of them. You should answer the questions as an essay like style. Please write with clarity, grammar and spelling as well as with complete sentences. Scholarly work is expected:

Answer any combination of the following questions in your written summary:

1. Confirmed assumptions, violated assumptions and/or injunctions about adjusting the personality.

2. What is the relationship between the ideas presented in the film, psychological theory and your own personal experience? Similar or different? How does the film help you to connect your own personal experiences in life, personality development, society/social issues as they relate to coping, personality, adjustments(s)?

3. Provide specific examples of occurrences in the film from personality and adjustment, coping, social thinking, social influence, social relations, managing stress, wellness, sexuality, loneliness, pathways to growth, and other psychosocial domains pertaining to your text. Any information you read in the textbook chapters, saw/heard that illustrated a concept theory or helped you to understand/notice/ reflect upon (perception and perspective) is acceptable and usable in an academic fashion.
