The connections enabled him to publish more stories that gained a lot of popularity among the people of Richmond. His continued writing led to the establishment of the editorial position in the Southern literary messenger In Richmond. His wife also was devoted to the marriage and his husband; she also wrote a valentine poem to him in expressing of her joy in the marriage. There were two major issues that led to the resignation of Poe as the editorial manager. They were the low pay and the lack of the editorial control in the messenger. After the resignation, Poe relocated to New York. It was not easy to get a job at that level and stage due to the life processes and activities that were taking place and mostly the financial and economic crisis. He however, secured a job and published his only novel known as the Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym. He only stayed in New York for a year and later moved to Philadelphia. Philadelphia offered him several magazine jobs as he wrote several magazines. Some of the magazines he worked for included the Burton's and the Grahams magazines. The contrary issue about his life is that at this level his fame had grown to a great extent but unfortunately he did not have much as his income.
Poe was barely making a living even though he had grown very famous. However, the poverty was it was okay with him and his family. His wife and the mother in law were very supporting to him and provided him with great love, joy, and care. It happened to be a difficult situation in life In 1942 when tuberculosis attacked his wife. It was the same disease that had claimed his mother, brother and foster mother. It formed the worst times of his life as it was threatening to him to find his wife such as she was in consideration of the poverty of his life. He was always searching for a better opportunity in the life where he would change his life. In 1944, he moved back to the New York where he entered in a unique way. The public was interested and thrilled to read the story due to its nature and way that people had to agree that the story was true. It was until later that Poe admitted that the story was not true and that Poe had fooled the people. As discussed, Poe had the unique set of skill of creating a real life situation in his writing and a skill that enabled him to win a lot of readers of his materials. His fictions had the aspect of possibility, and it is the reason people thought that they might have been true. It was until later that he admitted having fooled the people. However, his marriage and the mother in law are the things that provided him with the ultimate joy that he did not get anywhere else. However, 1845 proved a bit to be a year of change since he was able to publish two books that year. In addition, he in a way was able to live his dream that was to own a magazine. In that, he bought out the owners of the Broadway Journal; it was a great achievement and the one he had been admiring in his life (Eichenberg, 2014). The two reasons why he was interested in a personal magazine was due to make more money and also to exercise total freedom in the production of the materials. However, things in the life did not turn as expected and in that they were not to the favor and way that he would have wished them to be and create a good environment for him. It was alleged that there were issues in his life that disorientated his position and led to the tarnishing of his dream. The continued and deteriorating health conditions of his and the failure of the venture were the two main reasons that his problems increased (Poe, 2014). I t is also alleged that Poe had a relationship with a married woman that was a big issue in his reputation and consideration his famous position and life. The identified issue that he was facing made him move out of the city in 1846. He relocated to a tiny cottage that was still in the county, and here he lived a quite life. The two years he lived, he spent them more on traveling from one city to another. The activities carried out in the course of his traveling entailed giving lectures and finding support for his proposal of the magazine project that was known as the stylus. It is unidentified that Poe met Nancy Richmond who he loved and the love for motivated him to write some of the greatest poems. However, she was married and unattainable. According to Sharp, (2011) Poe was found in a room in a public house that was being used in the polling place for inflation during that time. It was written that Poe spent the last days of life far away from home and the people who surrounded him at those times were strangers. His mother in law and the people who were close to he heard of his death after reading the newspaper. However, there was no publication that provided an elaboration or a clear course of his death.
In conclusion, Poe was a unique man who lived a difficult life at one end and a simple and happy life at the other end. Despite all his achievements, he died a poor man and a rich man at the same time. It could be elaborated in the following manner. S after his death, there were scholars who tried to avenge for the critics he had done to them as they wrote critics about his life. Some described him as a madman who had no morals, drunkard, and a womanizer among other negatives. The motives of his criticizers were to withdraw the public attention on him and more so to bury his works and writings. However, the critics worked the other way round since they increased the people attention and interest on the Edgar Poe life and his works. His workings were purchased more than any authors. His books attained higher sales than they ever did while he was a life that could be attributed to why he died a rich man. He left a strong reputation both in his writing and his way of life which was different from any other author. His reputation is still held today in relation to his work. In addition, most of the works is also used in the present as a reference for criticism.
