Module 2

Lab Assignments

The following Labs are done in Multisim only.

· Lab 2 - p 7 Logic Switches and LED Indicators

Follow the procedures outlined on page 9 of the Lab Manual and submit the following to the instructor:

· Step 3 – p.9,10 Multisim file of Figure 2.6 (any size SIP may be used)

Note: You can test this circuit by using a “Measurement Probe” to verify when switch is open, V=5V; when switch is closed, V= 0V

· Lab 3 See below

In Multisim have students draw schematics implementing 2-input AND, OR, NAND, NOR and XOR gates. Use 2 switches for inputs and 1 LED for output. Submit the following to the instructor:

· Multisim files (5 total) of schematics

· Truth Tables for each in WORD or EXCEL format

Note: You can refer to the Lab Manual p. 16, figure 3.4 to assist them in drawing these schematics. Students may also use the Logic Converter available in Multisim to derive Truth Tables for each circuit.

Deriving a Truth Table from a Circuit

Complete the following steps to derive a truth table from a circuit schematic:

1. Attach the input terminals of the Logic Converter to up to eight nodes in the circuit.

2. Connect the output of the circuit to the Out terminal. This is the right-most terminal on the Logic Converter icon.

3. Click the Circuit to Truth Table button. The truth table for the circuit appears in the logic converter’s display.
