My Topic: Violence Against Women In Egypt

Part I: International Social Problem

A. Introduction (20 points)

1. Briefly explain the specific international social problem/issue you are addressing in your paper, the specific population affected by this issue and the specific country/region.

2. Briefly discuss the significance of this issue with this population and its relevance to international social work.

Literature Review on the International Social Problem (50 points)

Provide a review of the literature that pertains to the international social problem/issue you selected and how the population and country/region you selected are impacted by this problem. You must use the academic literature (scholarly sources) for this review . You may also include other sources from reputable organizations (e.g., United Nations, World Bank, NGOs such as CARE, etc.), as well as information from your textbook; however, the textbook cannot be used as the only source for this review. The articles you find may also suggest or discuss specific strategies to address the problem. You will not need to provide information on strategies in this section of the paper; however, you may use the information on strategies in Part II of this assignment. For your review, please include:

1. An introduction: introduce and briefly summarize the literature . This paragraph briefly summarizes the literature you found on the problem, the population and how it’s affected by the problem.

2. Synthesize the articles you found and key findings . Describe in detail the problem (e.g., type of problem, causes, etc.), the population affected by the problem (e.g., race, gender, age, etc.), how the country/region is affected by this problem, and why it is an important problem to address. Make sure you integrate findings from articles that are on similar topics (e.g., discuss articles describing the population in the same paragraph).

B. Summary (20 points)

1. Provide a brief overall summary of the key findings from the above literature review.

2. Discuss how the social problem/issue illustrates an international human rights and social justice issue and why it is important to social work.

3. Discuss the types of strategies you will be researching and describing in Part II.

C. References and Appendices (10 points)

1. APA formatting must be used for the font, margins, headings, tables, appendices, etc. (Note: You can use the wording in the outline for your main headings (e.g., Introduction; Literature Review, etc.); however, do not use A, B, C or 1, 2, 3, etc. in your headings).

2. APA formatting must be used for all references in the text and the reference page.

3. Use proper grammar and spelling; check your paper for typos and run on sentences.

**Message from the professor about the paper: “For the literature review, it will be important to include as many relevant articles as you can; therefore, at least 2-3 scholarly and 2-3 non-scholarly sources at a minimum.  However, if there are more articles that are key to your paper, please include them. The syllabus has the instructions for the paper. When you do the headings and subheadings, please use the headings in the syllabus, but do not include the A, B, C letters, only the words in bold.  Please use APA format for the headings (e.g., font, placement, etc.), which is in the latest edition of the APA manual.”
