Essay Three: Proposing a Solution

For this assignment, you will write an essay that presents a real world problem and offers a possible solution for
it.
For the essay, you will provide a thesis that isolates a specific problem that interrupts/damages people’s lives on
a day to day basis. You will then present a solution that is a plausible way of handling or solving that problem.
Your ultimate task in this essay is to locate a problem that is small enough for you to present a comprehensive
solution for it that will solve the problem without creating or enlarging other problems.
Shoulds: Your essay should provide a thesis that sets up the problem you are working with. Your essay should
use topic sentences to create dedicated paragraphs that are focused on a specific element of your proposal.
Your proposal should also include a Comprehensive solution to your chosen problem that solves a majority of
the issues involved. Any parts of the problem that you do not solve should at least be minimized. Your essay’s
solution should answer any doubts or detractors that you come across in your research. Your proposal should
provided and utilize detailed information on your problems, quoted directly from a minimum of two sources.
Your paper should utilize proper formatting and citations for the MLA style. Your paper should include a
works cited page, listing your sources as per MLA style guide attached to this prompt sheet.
Should Nots: The bulk of your essay should not be focused on the problem (no more than three paragraphs), as
the bulk of this paper is about your solution. Your essay should not adopt the solution provided by one of your
sources (I want your own solution and not someone elses). Your essay should not be an amalgamation or made
up of a patchwork of solutions (I only want one, cohesive solution; your solution may be multistage, I.e step 1
through 5, just not made of various other solutions). Your essay should not plagiarize in any way (This essay
should be original work). Your essay should not contain personal opinion, beliefs, or reflections about the
problem (I don’t need to know what side of an issue you belong to).
Your essay will be submitted in the following manner:
Double Spaced, 12pt font, Times New Romans, 1” margins
MLA formatting
Three to Five pages in length
You will submit your essays to Turnitin.com, under the class and section provided
