Research Document: Analytical Research Paper
Assignment Overview Based on your knowledge of discourse communities after our class readings, our class discussions, and our group activities, you will produce an analytical research paper that engages an original research question related to your field of discovery. From your research question, you will develop a thesis statement with a clear stance. You will have the opportunity to engage in processes for reading, writing, and research, as well as understand writing as a social process.
Assignment Details Using findings from your Annotated Bibliography, you will generate a five (5) – six (6) page Analytical Research Paper that critically engages your research focus. Note: 4 ½ pages does not meet the requirement. You must use at least five (5) academic sources, with a minimum of seven (7) sources. Do not exceed ten sources.
Deadlines March 26 Workshop Draft of Analytical Research Paper due for Writers’ Workshop. Bring two complete drafts: 30 points
April 2 Submission Draft of Analytical Research Document due, including all corresponding documents listed on the rubric: 45 points
April 30 Polished Draft for Portfolio Submission. With revision, this may fit the Polished Research Document Requirement of your FYC Portfolio.
Other Requirements Following completion and to be submitted with this document, you will write a 1-2 page self-reflection professional email detailing your writing process and identifying which learning outcomes you achieved. In the cover letter you must also explain why you choose your citation method. A physical copy of your Submission Draft is due in class on April 2, as well as a single attachment to the assignment description in the Assignment section of Sakai. Please name it: YOURNAME-ARP.docx
