To: Students of FIS 101 Introduction to Fire Science

Subject: Term Paper; Research Paper; Museum Visit

Students will have a choice of either doing a research paper or visiting the New York City Fire Museum to satisfy the term paper requirement of the course.

The research paper and the NYC Fire Museum visit paper are due March 23, 2015. Papers may be submitted EARLIER. The term paper will constitute a large portion of your grade: 150pts. You must choose either the research paper option or the NYC Fire Museum option.

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO BOTH THE RESEARCH PAPER AND THE MUSEUM VISIT.

I have been asked if I want a particular format for the term paper, the answer to this is question is: No. There are, however, minimum requirements that should be met.

The paper is to be written utilizing the APA format. Since many of you are upper level students in very demanding majors, this should not present any problems. I have included two links for term papers, both of which were written by John Jay Professors.
