Instructions During Unit 1, you chose a public health pioneer to write about for the Final Project. For this Assignment, please provide an overview of what you will discuss in the Final Project paper. This is the first step to writing your final paper. Please include the following:
1. How this individual positively impacted the advancement of public health. 2. Briefly describe some of the main points that you will develop in your Final
Project paper, including: a. The cause he/she pursued in an effort to advance public health (a
particular disease, public health policy, social/behavioral change, etc.). b. Some of the steps and methods this person took to advance public health
(develop a vaccine; develop a sanitation system; complete experiments to prove public health theories, etc.), including experiments, policy, laws, etc. that were completed or passed.
c. The overall impact this person had in the field of public health. d. A list of some obstacles, barriers or ethical dilemmas that was overcome
in the process. 3. A list of at least three peer-reviewed journal articles that you plan to use in
your paper. Please see the course Welcome Announcement or contact your Professor for more information on peer-reviewed sources.

Requirements
Your Final Project plan should be formatted as follows:
• Title Page (1 page) • Main Body (minimum 300 words) • Reference List (1 page): All references that are cited in the text must appear here in APA
format. Full credit will not be given should the reference list lack the minimum number of three primary peer-reviewed research articles. Keep in mind that most final papers will need more than three to be considered scholarly.
• Header: Consisting of the first three words of your title and page number in the upper right hand margin of your page, beginning on the cover page.
• Running head: If your title is more than three words, you must include a running head. • Per APA format: 1” margins, doubled spaced, Times New Roman style and size 12 font.
Paper is due to the Dropbox by the end of Unit 3.

Submitting Your Work
Put your responses in a Microsoft® Word® document. Save it in a location and with the proper naming convention: username-CourseName-section-Unit 1_Assignment.doc (username is your Kaplan username, section is your course section, 1 is your Unit number). When you are ready to submit it, go to the Dropbox and complete the steps below:
1. Click the link that says “Submit an Assignment.” 2. In the “Submit to Basket” menu, select Unit 1: Assignment. 3. In the “Comments” field, make sure to add at least the title of your paper. 4. Click the “Add Attachments” button. 5. Follow the steps listed to attach your Word document.
To view your graded work, come back to the Dropbox or go to the Gradebook after your instructor has evaluated it. Make sure that you save a copy of your submitted project.
