My Karate Classes
A few days ago, I attended a tactic program at my Karate class where our karate instructors spent hours telling us about a martial arts expert can use various karate techniques to ensure that an aggressor does not cause any harm. Because I was at the front row, my instructor picked me to demonstrate how speed and balance can increase one’s prowess in martial arts. One thing that is still in my mind is how my karate instructor was able to effortlessly toss me in the air with the kind of precision that I had never seen before. I promised myself that I would train hard and become like him one day.
My instructor went further to educate us the major reason for learning karate techniques. My instructor told us that the Japanese ancient tradition of martial arts dictate that karate should never be used for vengeance, show off or to target innocent people for no reason. Some of us wondered if Karate could be used to protect ourselves and our families and his response was yes. However, he categorically stated that such a move should be a last resort and that martial art skills should not always be used when one is provoked. Every time I come out of my karate class, I often tell myself that I will use my skills for good and not for evil.
