Discuss how each CEO has used concentration, vertical integration and/or diversification in the planning function of management. (In microeconomics and management, vertical integration is an arrangement in which the supply chain of a company is owned by that company. Usually each member of the supply chain produces a different product or (market-specific) service, and the products combine to satisfy a common need). ('DIVERSIFICATION' A risk management technique that mixes a wide variety of investments within a portfolio. The rationale behind this technique contends that a portfolio of different kinds of investments will, on average, yield higher returns and pose a lower risk than any individual investment found within the portfolio).
Coca Cola CEO Neville Isdell
Bruce- He used diversification by implementing vitamin waters into the mix. Even though the video didn’t say it but Soda company’s where catching hell from the media on the effects of high fructose corn syrup so Coke had to do something. Plus they copied off Pepsi, who was producing Gatorade.
Ros- He used vertical integration too because of the different products he implemented across the board for his company. He introduced more liquid drinks instead of trying to copy Pepsi, who went into Frito Lay. Isdell expanded with drinks.
Teri Neville at this point in the company the moral was low and high turner over, view the market and making the appropriate adjustments, had to come from someone with a heart for the company who could stand and not waver in the decision to diversify their product and stay true to the original beginnings

Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly
Bruce- He used concentration to focus on knowing his customers. He went back to the original business plan of the company and Hospitality had a lot to do with his successes.
Ros- He was reliable too. The low cost with no hidden fees policy still remains today.
Teri-Kelly, understanding that by building a united front with having communication with employees and showing that as a team they can get through the hard times effect on the industry, that when things are good, everyone will enjoy and feel the effects of the good time as well. internal customer service truly effect external customer services which effects business as a whole.

Bruce- Diversity with his labels in different fashion.
Ros- He concentrated in one field of merchandise . Mainly clothing.
Teri McDonald strong background in use tactical planning, allowed him to stand firm in knowing what his customers want not being moved by trends, concentration on everyday use, making it fashionable and useful at the same time. Sticking to the brands he knows but integrating other areas with the same focus of everyday usability.
