This is a popular source. It is a site available on the Internet. The source indicates that the firm has been successful in promoting an educational philosophy that is based upon values. It upholds and honor diversity, and this is why different sections of the society have found it being worthwhile. Gruwell argues that in addition to inspiring the students to study hard and achieve their goals, the organization has been keen on inspiring the youth to become important members of the communities where they come from. Just like any other initiative, Freedom Writers Foundation has been criticized for what some observers refer to as ‘systematic alienation of some sections of the society in favor of others’. Gruwell is opposed to this view, and it us actually what prompted her to compose this article. It is an important article, and this is why it was selected for the purpose of completing this study.
Tanase, M. (2013). Meeting Student Needs in the Freedom Writers Movie: An Activity in a Classroom Management Course. Journal of Invitational Theory & Practice, 19(1), 4-14
This source is scholarly in nature. It appears since an adequate amount of information has been reviewed for the purpose of facilitating an optimal understanding of the subject. The source is just two years old, and this means that the information that is availed is the latest. The issue of pre-service teaching is discussed at length. Pre-service teaching refers to the process/idea of preparing the students for their careers. This kind of teaching may be accomplished as the students study for their main courses, or the student may undertake it as soon as they graduate with their main courses. This source explains that Freedom Writers Foundation was established to facilitate that role. Tanase (2013) argue that it is not-for-profit organization that helps in inspiring the underprivileged and young students to persevere and stay focused no matter the challenges they encounter in life as well as while in school. Evidently, this source has assessed the organization in question as well as the issue of pre-service teaching in an effective manner.
Wang, Y. (2007). Freedom Writers: Making the Most of the Freelance-Agency Relationship. AMWA Journal: American Medical Writers Association Journal, 22(4), 166-167.
Wang (2007) indicates that the organization was established in 1997. He has managed to highlight some of the most important roles of the firm in question, and this is what makes this source become worthwhile. According to Wang, the organization’s primary objective was to facilitate the reduction in the rate of school drop-outs, especially amongst the students from the marginalized communities. The firm has been creating a significant number of opportunities so as to enable the students to attain their maximum academic potential. The firm has also been endeavoring to make high education appealing, and the whole essence is to ensure that no section of the society is left behind. Wang concludes by saying that the firm has achieved many of its primary objectives in an effective manner. In fact, he argues that this is the reason why it is still prominent amongst the stakeholders in the education sector. Had this not been the case, it would have already been edged out by a couple of other organizations which have been established since 1997. As it has been indicated, this is a credible source as far as this study is concerned.
