The problem:

The problem is that one of the athletes who has a huge fan following and whom the client wants to be a part of the promotional program has been investigated to be taking steroids. Amalia has a very strong gut feeling that the candidate whom the client insists upon is a regular drug taker and should not be allowed to feature in the promotional programs. Amalia has even asked the agent of the candidate if a steroid test can be undertaken by the candidate. The agent commented on an emphatic no which all the more made Amalia certain that this candidate was taking drugs. The client wants this particular candidate prominently featured. Amalia has already spoken to her team and they feel that if this candidate is not taken the client would be unhappy and they might lose the client. There could also be a time when Amalia’s decision of seeking out the problem could be over ridden by the team manger. Hence Amalia requires the advice of Kelly on this matter.

Kelly’s understanding

Kelly wants to know the basis of Amalia’s suspicion?

Kelly would also like to know if Amalia has some evidence or proof about the star candidate taking steroids.

Best leadership approach:

Kelly has to use the situational leadership forces to ensure that she leads the team proactively towards the promotional program without angering the client and subtly telling thee client that the star candidate uses steroids and hence cannot be featured prominently. Kelly needs to be very subtle and handle the client and the team in a very transformational manner . At the given situation for Kelly it is very important to take the appropriate decision regarding the supplying the resource to energy drink client. Because it very crucial for client as well as the organization. Client is not going to take the test of applicant so it is Kelly and its team responsibility to best out of the best resources to reduce all associated factor. In this case the star candidate who has to be featured is a steroid taker and this is against the principles of sports ethics. The firm will be going against the mission statement if it hires this candidate for its promotional program .

Conflict resolution:

There could be a conflict between the client and Proscout if the firm decides to stick on to its mission and not feature the candidate. They might even lose the client. So Kelly has to use her powers of persuasion to make sure that she speaks to the client regarding this candidate and how the firm will not deviate from its mission of ethical principles of hiring.

Communication process:

If Amalie does not hear back from Kelly in time, she will have to escalate the matter to the ethics officer or senior manager or the accounts manger to delay the hiring process sufficiently till Kelly is back and not commit on any shooting and hiring schedules .
