Module 5 - Case

Career Exploration

Part 1

Completing your degree is an investment in human capital. While an education provides many positive outcomes, most students pursue a degree for career growth. In this assignment, you will use the Career Finder assessment that is available from My Career Center in our TLC portal. Career Finder is a quick assessment of your career interests and level of preparation in the areas of experience, education, and job training. While some of you may be well into your profession of choice, this is a useful exercise for all students to reflect on current and future career choices.

Part 2

Complete the cover letter and resume activity in My Career Center. Search and identify one prospective job from the most interesting career fields within the Career Finder Assessment suggestions. If you are already in the career field of choice, then identify a career indicated at the next highest “Level of Preparation” for this career. The “Level of Preparation” bar is located underneath “Your Results & Job Zone.” Click and drag to the right to change your Level of Preparation. You will need to customize your resume and cover letter to one job that you find interesting. Submit your resume and cover letter to be reviewed by a Career Advisor using the steps in How to Upload a Document. Please also save and submit the cover letter and resume to the Case 5 Dropbox for review by your TUX instructor.
