Wedding In Cultures

What should I say and what Should I do? Every day I ask my friend these questions in my first 2 months in the United States. I had been living with an American family for 6 months. I've learned a lot of things about American culture. I came from different culture and there are a lot of different between my culture and the culture in the united states. In my country we have almost same culture, with several things are different, but not that big difference. People around the world have many different kinds of wedding due to the differences in their religions and cultures. The marriage party in the United States caught my attention.

I went to a small marriage party with my American friend. It was my first time for me to be in a marriage party out my country. There have been a few people just relatives and close friends. However, in my culture the marriage party is large and costly. The number of guests more than 500 people sometimes. When I saw that marriage party I said " where are the rest of the people!! ". I kept the question on me until the next day. In the morning, I told my friend the marriage party last night was small is that normal in the United States? He said yeah the is a normal. Why? He asked me. I told him about the marriage party how large and costly in my culture. He was surprised and non-certified. I showed him some pictures, he was shocked. I told him that was my feeling when I was in the your friend's marriage party.

In America, they are free to date and choose whom they want to marry based on their standings. But in my culture there is no dating. If they think they are ready for marriage, they start some steps before the marriage party. Before the marriage part, the host sends invitations to the wedding guests, usually one to two months before the wedding. Invitations may most formally be addressed by hand to show the importance and personal meaning of the occasion. If they have big numbers of invitations, they might do that by highest quality printing technology. At marriage party, a marriage party may take place anywhere, but often a church, courthouse, hotels or outdoor venue. The party is usually brief, and may be dictated by the couple's religious practices. The wedding party may form a receiving line at this point, or later at a wedding reception, so that each guest might briefly greet the entire wedding party.

In fact, being in a new culture is kind of difficult because sometimes you do something you think it's fine, but actually they don't accept what you have done. Have you read about any culture, yet? My advice to anyone who is planning to travel to study or even for traveling, read about the culture. In the face of the earth, there a lot of cultures and a lot of people still following and showing their cultures or some parts of the cultures, they do not like to make a mistake especially if the c culture came from their religion. Always we have to be carful about that and that's why my advice was about reading about cultures. I'm taking a book about Japanese culture because I am interested into Japanese culture and I'm planning to visit as soon as I can. Reading about different cultures gives you the knowledge and life experience. If I have read about the American marriage before I went to there I would not be surprised and I would have more experience.
