Important Written Assignment Information

Due date: Thursday March 5th 2015, 7pm (Singapore time)

Late submissions and penalties

· If a late submission of assignment is accepted, students will be penalised by ten percent per calendar day for a late assessment submission (eg a mark equivalent to 10% of the total allocated for the assessment will be deducted from the marked value for every day that the assessment is late).

Word count: 2000

· All sections except the title page and reference list are included in the 2,000 word count.

· Students are allowed to go over or under the word count by 10% (+200 or -200 words)

Conventions of academic writing

· The assignments must be typed on white A4 paper with double spacing, and a 2.5cm margin at the top and bottom of the page, and on the right-hand and left-hand sides. You should use 12 point font for the text (14 point font for headings, if you like), Times New Roman (preferred).

· The assignments should be grammatically correct and well punctuated. As a tertiary level student, a high standard of written English is expected. Your assignments should be clear, concise, neatly presented, and easy to read. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in a significant loss of marks.

· Compulsory reference style: RMIT Business Referencing Style (http://www.rmit.edu.au/library/referencing-guides).

· For further assistance with research, visit the Assessment folder in OB Blackboard site.

· Make sure you read the marking rubric, which can be downloaded in Blackboard, carefully before attempting the assignment

Assignment submission:

· An electronic version of the cover sheet, which can be downloaded in Blackboard, must be attached to your essay.

· Essays must be submitted via Turnitin and it is recommeneded that student keep a pdf version of the Turnitin submission receipt.

· Soft copy submission: Ensure the that you have the seminar number: (e.g., Seminar 1) on the title of the submission.

· The filing naming format of your electronic copy and title of your submission should not as follows: Class X YOUR RMIT ID Assignment (For example: LF01 1234567 Case Study Essay)

· Hard copy submission is not required

Turnitin:

· Turnitin can be access via the 'Assessment' folder of Blackboard.

· Two tabs have been created in Turnitin; the Draft and the Final tab.

· Students are given opportunity to submit the draft copy of their assignment to the DRAFT tab for which they will receive an originality report. Students are encouraged to submit the draft copy of the assignment to the DRAFT tab and use the feedback from the originality report (that will be emailed to students) to amend the assignment to ensure that plagiarism has not occurred.

· Students are also advised to exercise extreme caution when submitting into the FINAL tab as there is only ONE opportunity to upload the correct copy which will be marked.
