PROJECT DESCRIPTION
As a volunteer at your local public library, you are helping to promote travel programs hosted by the library. The head librarian has created a document with specifics for an upcoming program called Timeless Travel Tips. The document provides tips for travelers, as well as information on other travel-related programs. You will format the document as a trifold brochure that presents the information in columns with bulleted lists. You will add formatting, a table, a photo, a shape with text, and a clip art image to enhance the text.
GETTING STARTED
· Download the following file from the SAM website:
· NP_Word2013_CS_P1a_FirstLastName_1.docx
· Open the file you just downloaded and save it with the name:
· NP_Word2013_CS_P1a_FirstLastName_2.docx
· Hint: If you do not see the .docx file extension in the Save file dialog box, do not type it. Word will add the file extension for you automatically.
· To complete this Project, you will also need to download and save the following support files from the SAM website:
· support_NP_W13_CS_P1a_Moore.jpg
· With the file NP_Word2013_CS_P1a_FirstLastName_2.docx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer. If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
Change all of the document margins to 0.7”.
Change the page orientation to Landscape.
Center-align the heading “A Guide to Safe and Successful Travel from Start to Finish”. Next, change the font to 20 pt. Arial Black and the font color to Blue, Accent 5, Darker 25% font color (9th column, 5th row in the Theme Colors palette).
Add a bottom border to the heading “A Guide to Safe and Successful Travel from Start to Finish” using a 3 pt. single line.
Move the insertion point before the “T” in “Today” and insert a Continuous section break. Then create 3 columns of equal width using the default settings.
Apply a Dropped drop cap to the “T” in “Today” and then justify all of the text in the first paragraph.
Format the heading “Before you go…” using the Heading 1 style, 14 pt. font, bold, and Small caps.
Use the Format Painter to apply the formatting from Step 7 to the following headings:
a. “Securing your home…”
b. “Staying safe while traveling…”
c. “Sharing your experiences…”
d. “Additional resources…”
Format the text under the heading “Before you go…” as a bulleted list. (Hint: Your list should contain exactly six list items). Then, complete the following:
e. Decrease the list indent by one level.
f. Change the bullet to a diamond symbol (select the Symbols font and character code 168 from the Symbols dialog box).
g. Apply the Blue, Accent 5 font color (9th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette) to the diamond symbol. (Hint: The font color of the text should remain black.)
Use the Format Painter to apply the list formatting from Step 9 to the text under the following headings:
h. “Securing your home…”
i. “Staying safe while traveling…”
j. “Sharing your experiences…”
In the blank line under the heading “Additional Resources”, insert a table with 2 columns and 5 rows and enter the data shown in Table 1 below. If necessary, remove the hyperlinks from the text in column 1.

In column two, under the heading that starts “Oakwood Public Library…”, insert the image support_NP_W13_CS_P1a Moore.jpg, available for download from the SAM website. Resize the image to a height of 2.4”.

Place the insertion point immediately below the title “Timeless Travel Tips”, and then insert an Online Picture of your choice. (Hint: To match the Final Figure, search Office.com for suitcase.) Resize the image so that it has a height of 2.82” and apply Square text wrapping.
Right-align and bold the last four lines of text and format using the Blue, Accent 5, Darker 25% font color (9th column, 5th row in the Theme Colors palette). Format “Join us” using a 20 pt. font, and then format the remaining three lines using a 14 pt. font.
Check the Spelling & Grammar in the document to identify and correct any spelling errors. (Hint: Ignore all grammar errors and proper nouns. You should find and correct at least 1 additional spelling error.)
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
