Collaborating:

Members of the police department and fire department are using verbal and non-verbal

group communication skills. Active listening skills are required to ensure that the message was

understood (Beebe & Mottet 2013). Adaptation may be required since fire and police personnel

sometimes use different terminology.

Relating:

Although generational gaps can create conflict, a common connection and interpersonal

communication can provide a platform to develop relationships.

Public communication in the form of rhetoric can incorporate all the communication skills to

apply persuasion to a situation (Beebe &Mottet 2013).
