a. the koppen climate that appears at the landing site is E which signifies arid and POLAR conditions

b. these observations do not match my speculations in the climate realization in lab 4 at this site.

c. there are a number of geographic factors that might explain the difference between my speculative genetic regionalization and the actual field observations from the probes. One such factor is altitude which is a key determining factor as far as precipitation and temperature are concerned. Another geographical factor in play is the amount of sunlight received on the actual landing site. This is a determining factor as far as the actual temperature of the site is concerned.

C. Explanation of differences

The very low precipitation levels led to the initial assertion of the region being a semi-arid area. The main reason for the difference though is the very low temperatures experienced in the region. The highest temperature is about 0 degrees Celsius and just so coincides with the lowest precipitation levels experienced in the region.

A. the probe site with the lowest mean annual temperature is probe 7 at 26F. This is not expected since the site lies at 40 degrees N. such extreme low temperatures are normally expected in areas that are much closer to the Polar Regions at higher latitudes either north or south.

B. the probe with the highest monthly temperature is probe 9 at 77.7F.this is expected given the location of probe 9. The probe is placed at latitudes of 20 degrees SOUTH. Such latitudes are in microthermal regions and are normally characterized by high precipitation levels and high temperatures.

C. the probe site which experienced the highest fluctuation between highest and lowest monthly temperatures is probe 9. The difference is approximately 80 degrees F. given the location of probe 9 at 20 S his is an expected phenomenon. Areas at such latitude experience high fluctuations between the hottest months and the coldest months.

D. the probe site which experiences the lowest fluctuation between highest and lowest monthly temperature is probe 6 with a difference of only 1 degree F. this is not expected due to the location of the site. The site is located at approximately 40N which is a region that would be expected to experience a higher temperature difference.

E. POTET and precip are so low at probe 10 because the site is located at 60 N which is a region in close proximity to the poles which are normally characterized by such conditions. Probe 7 also shows unexpectedly low POOTET

F. probe 2 is most suitable for human habitation. Probe 9 is closest to Los Angeles.
