A1: So my question is, if it's it's a hassle to come into the United states, why not use the energy that has been used to come into the states, to make life better in their own country?
Comment --------------------------------------------
B1: They might not have the resources or opportunities in their country to make a better life, so they want to come to the United States for the “American Dream”. The immigrants wouldn’t be spending all of this time trying to come over if it weren’t a good enough reason.
Comment --------------------------------------------
A1: So ways such as: reaching out to these countries in a way of assistance to improve economics aren't an option anymore? I've heard a lot of tragic stories about the journey, why is it the first option that is chosen? Doesn't seem to a lot of sense to me.
Comment --------------------------------------------
C1: I totally agree with you guys! It amazes me how much people drop back at home just to have a totally different life style! its a huge risk and sometimes people dont know how to react to it other than sending them away, which is kind of sad.
Comment --------------------------------------------
C1: They face language barriers, culture shock, different policies, a different life style, all on top of people not wanting them here and wanting them to go back to the whole they came from. Its so sad to me that even though we were all immigrants at one point, they are discriminated against because of where they came from. Do you guys have any examples of what type of benefits, or troubles they face? (it would be the things we brainstorm, but just for dramatic effect, and to have a entrance to what we are going to talk about.)
Comment --------------------------------------------
B1: One thing that I thought was kind of cool was the law that was passed giving illegal immigrants the chance to receive a drivers license. The fact that the process of making an immigrant legal takes forever, the government is trying to help them by allowing them to go to their jobs .without the fear of getting pulled over and having their car impounded by not having a license.
Comment --------------------------------------------
C1: To be honest, I was so happy. I was happy that the government finally is giving them a chance to be able to drive without having to worry about getting caught by the cops or anything. I would hate to be living in fear or the police because they could easily give you a ticket, or even impound your car!
Comment --------------------------------------------
B1: To be honest I still think that the government needs to make a faster process of making the immigrants legal, but the chance to receive a drivers license is a good step in the right direction. If the government creates a faster process of accepting illegal immigrants, then they won’t be worried ever again.
Comment --------------------------------------------
C1:I completely agree with you! Sometimes I feel like they get punished for everyone else’s problems. For example, I was watching the news the other day and they were talking about how bad they are and how they came to this country illegally, but I dont see anything wrong if they pay for their taxes and work and arnt doing anything wrong.
Comment --------------------------------------------
C1: Its hard to see people getting punished for not doing anything wrong, but theres people who are sneaking around doing hard core drugs or killing people and they only go to jail for a few years, then get sent free. For them, their entire life gets changed upside down because of their fear of getting caught.
Comment --------------------------------------------
A1: Wait a minute, the two are completely different those who are caught after committing crimes are different than those by immigrants. What about those who come out here illegally, committing horrible crimes then go back to Mexico, but because they can legally drive or something else they now fear less? Or what about the accidents that are caused by those who can't drive and are the causes of hit and runs or non reported accidents? Things like that are ignored by society. Or the nine families in in house paying in mortgage with cars and no insurance?
Comment --------------------------------------------
C1: Oh sorry, I meant like Americans commit crimes and only get a a few years in prison and then get sent out. But like hard working mexicans who come here illegally get sent back to their country and have to basically start from the bottom. But I totally agree with you!! I feel like if your illegal, you should be committing crimes and I totally support them going back to their home country. You get one opportunity to follow the american dream and you make yourself known that your are a criminal? Its not fair that you are giving everyone a bad name just because of your actions.
Comment --------------------------------------------
A1: And see I feel that that part right there is something that helps create racism. I do agree that a few bad actions can and have deminished a lot of what people have worked hard for. A bad coincidence or whatever but see what riddles me is that no matter what we all play a huge factor in that, simply due to the "never judge actions lots keep book by it's cover" saying.
