Leadership assignment - District Instructional Policy
A school policy:
A policy is a statement derived from a policy process; a policy process is the procedure that school administrators, parents, community members and stakeholders translate a political vision into programs, rules, regulations and actions to deliver outcomes desired in the day to day life of a school.
A quality making policy process depends upon information from a variety of sources:
2. Existing research (local, national and international)
3. Stakeholder consultation (they provide the political vision of the district/school)
4. Evaluation of the previous policy
A policy emerges as a balance between what is
1. Scientifically plausible (evidence based through data collection and analysis)
2. Politically acceptable (must fit the political vision and stakeholders interests)
3. Practicality - how practical will the implementation be
a. Resources and authority
b. Structures to build capacity for action
c. Feasibility of action
