Research Question Blue Rectangle

A regional manager for Blue Rectangle Company visited Wonderfulsville Research Development group seeking assistance with maximizing profits between the DVD rental kiosk locations in town; they are located on Highway 10, and near Shackelford Road. Manager stated that his kiosks are equipped to hold 40 DVDs of each selection per location, however he choose to only have 20 per kiosk based on past rental history and data. He provided rental data per location for the past three weeks for review (See below) and wanted to see if it would be beneficial to move certain selections from one location to the other.

Research Question and Hypothesis Statement

Wonderfulsville Research Development group has developed the research question and hypothesis statements based on information presented by Blue Rectangle’s regional manager. The research question

Is there a correlation in movie selection (dependent variable) based on kiosk location (independent variable). The dependent variable is movie selection, which is an attribute (University of Phoenix, 2014). The independent variable is location, which is also an attribute (University of Phoenix, 2014).

Hypothesis statements

1. There is no correlation in movie selection (DV) based on kiosk location (IV) (University of Phoenix, 2014).

2. There is a correlation in movie selection (DV) based on kiosk location (IV) (University of Phoenix, 2014).

Conclusion

Wonderfulsville Research Development group has taken on a new research assignment; the team has been hired to determine ways to maximize profits through research between the two kiosks located in Wonderfulsville. Research question and two hypothesis statements were developed and team is currently analyzing rental data that Blue Rectangle’s regional manager has provided.
